Bescherming bij botsingen
Bescherming in de frontale botsing De kooiconstructie ondergaat een minimale vervorming. Dit zorgt tezamen met de tweetraps airbags en de gordels met gordelspanners en krachtbegrenzing voor de voorwaartse beweging tijdens de botsing te controleren en beperken. Deze veiligheidsvoorzieningen met de stabiele kooiconstructie werken goed en houden de belasting op borstkassen en benen van de voorinzittenden laag. Echter harde delen rondom de stuurkolom en achter het dashboard brengen de bescherming van de kniëen van de voorinzittenden in gevaar. De voetenruimte heeft weinig te lijden van vervorming of binnendringing. Bescherming in de zijdelingse botsing Er is een indrukwekkend beschermingssysteem voor de zijdelingse botsing dat bestaat uit: in de stoel verwerkte zijairbags en een hoofdbeschermingssysteem (gordijnairbag) dat ook bescherming biedt aan de achterinzittenden. De bescherming in de zijbotsing is goed. Er is alleen puntenaftrek vanwege de onrealistische opname van krachten via de stoel op de dummy in de test, zoals dat in de praktijk niet kan optreden. Bescherming voor kinderen Honda adviseert kinderen te vervoeren in de kinderzitjes die gemonteerd zijn op de achterbank. Een permanent tekstlabel op beide zijden van de zonneklep aan passagierskant, waarschuwt in vijf talen tegen het gevaar van montage van een achterwaarts gericht kinderzitje op de passagiersstoel tegenover een actieve airbag. Dit label bevat tevens een instructie over het plaatsen van de centrale voorstoel in de achterste positie, wanneer hierop een voorwaarts gericht kinderzitje wordt gemonteerd. Voor beide kinderen werden in de tests de aanbevolen kinderzitjes Römer Duo Plus gebruikt, die voorwaarts gericht met Isofix bevestigingspunten in de auto werden gemonteerd. De zitjes bieden wisselende bescherming. De krachten op het hoofd van het jonge kind en op de borstkassen van beide kinderen is hoog in een frontale botsing. Echter, beide kinderen bleven wel binnen de beschermende schaal van het kinderzitje in zowel de frontale als de zijbotsing. Bescherming voor voetgangers Het niveau van bescherming voor voetgangers was goed met een volledig meegevende bumper (maximum aantal punten). Verder was de meegevendheid van de motorkap op de plekken waar een hoofd van een kind en van een volwassene de neerkomen van een goed niveau. de voorste rand van de motorkap biedt daarentegen weinig bescherming. Modelgegevens Tot de standaard veiligheidsvoorzieningen van de FR-V behoren tweetraps frontairbags, zijairbags, hoofdbeschermingssysteem voor de zijbotsing (gordijnairbag), gordelspanners met krachtbegrenzers voor, Isofix bevestigingspunten met top tethers (3e bevestigingspunt via een band bovenaan), gordelreminder voor de bestuurder en ABS.
