 De Honda Jazz Sport is echt geen sportieve auto. Hij heeft beslist zijn kwaliteiten, maar net als zijn naamgever uit de muziekwereld, blijft het toch iets voor de liefhebber. De Honda Jazz rijdt uitstekend, is praktisch, maar de prijs zal wel een struikelblok blijven.Jazz is hot. De film Ray, die gaat over jazzmusicus Ray Charles, was goed voor een Oscar voor acteur Jamie Foxx. En dankzij de jonge muzikant Jamie Cullum spreekt de muziekstijl sinds kort weer een veel groter publiek aan. Nu de auto met dezelfde naam nog. Honda heeft het model vorig jaar vernieuwd om de Jazz een nieuwe impuls te geven. Maar eh… zijn we werkelijk op pad met een vernieuwde Jazz? Het is dat we ’t weten, maar zien doen we het nauwelijks. Je moet echt weten welke zaken er veranderd zijn, anders ontgaat het nieuws je volledig. Zo huizen de knipperlichten voortaan in de buitenspiegels en is bij de Sport de binnenkant van de koplampen uitgevoerd in de kleur van de carrosserie. Omdat het een Sport is, beschikt ’ie ook nog eens over enorme bumpers, een heuse achterspoiler en lichtmetalen wielen. De zwaarste motorisering die voor de Jazz verkrijgbaar is, de 1,4-liter, levert nog altijd een vermogen van 83 pk. Een strepentrekker wordt de 987 kilo zware Jazz er niet van. Je moet hem flink op toeren houden en bij een stoplichtsprint tegen ‘iets sportiefs’ leg je het negen van de tien keer gewoon af. Want de Jazz 1.4i Sport heeft 12,5 seconden nodig om vanuit stilstand de 100 km/h te halen. Niet echt indrukwekkend, maar op een bochtig parcours tovert de Jazz wel een glimlach op het gezicht. In korte bochten tilt de compacte Honda met zijn MPV-achtige uiterlijk het binnenste wiel op, en dat duidt op een behoorlijk stijve carrosserie. |
