Vrijdag wordt er meer duidelijkheid verwacht omtrent de toekomst van de Grand Prix van Canada. Dan zal de Canadese overheid waarschijnlijk bekendmaken of zij bereid is om het benodigde geld op tafel te leggen. Zo meldt La Presse Canadienne.

Onlangs was er een afvaardiging van de Canadese overheid in Londen om met Bernie Ecclestone de problemen rond de Canadese Grand Prix te bespreken. De race in Montreal stond begin deze maand ineens niet meer op de kalender van 2009, wegens een financieel meningsverschil. Na het gesprek was burgemeester Gérald Tremblay van Montreal erg optimistisch dat de Canada alsnog kan terugkeren op de kalender. Wel moet er een nieuwe promotor voor de race worden gevonden.
