 De een z’n dood is de ander z’n brood, luidt een bekend spreekwoord. Je zou zeggen dat dit ook in de auto-industrie geldt, maar niets is minder waar. Merken als Toyota en Honda vrezen juist een faillissement van een Amerikaanse autogigant. Dat meldt Detroit News. Honda, Nissan en Toyota delen namelijk verschillende toeleveranciers met de Amerikanen. Als bijvoorbeeld General Motors failliet gaat, raken ook die toeleveranciers in de problemen en zullen de prijzen van onderdelen stijgen. “Als er grote partijen wegvallen, kan het hele systeem als het bekende kaartenhuis in elkaar storten,” zegt een sombere analist. In een extreem geval zou deze situatie er zelfs toe kunnen leiden dat de Japanse fabrikanten de toeleveranciers van de Amerikaanse merken financieel ondersteunen om de moeilijke tijden door te komen. Hoe het Ford, GM en Chrysler ook vergaat, de crisis heeft sowieso z’n weerslag op de Japanse merken. Zo gaf Toyota eerder deze week een officiële winstwaarschuwing af. |
