 Honda experimenteert druk met waterstof. Daar merken we in Europa niet zo veel van, maar in Amerika rijdt op experimentele basis al de FCX Clarity sedan rond. Om te laten zien dat waterstoftechniek ook spannend verpakt kan worden, staat op de LA Autoshow deze FC Sport Concept te blinken. Honda toont op de autobeurs in Los Angeles deze driezits sportauto die op waterstof loopt. Om de waterstofmotor te ondersteunen, wordt een elektromotor gebruikt. De uitstoot van deze auto is dus alleen maar waterdamp. Honda timmert in de VS met de Clarity sedan al op de openbare weg aan waterstoftechniek.De waterstoftanks zijn geplaatst achter de stoelen. Ze zijn duidelijk te zien in de showauto. Honda toont de techniek zoals de gebruikelijk is op een ‘naked bike’-motorfiets. De accu’s zijn op een laag punt middenin de auto geplaatst. Net als de elektromotor zitten ze vlak voor de achteras. Zo wordt het zwaartepunt laag gehouden. Interieurfoto’s van deze spectaculaire Honda zijn er niet, maar de stoelopstelling is à la McLaren F1; dus met de bestuurder in het midden en de passagiers aan beide zijkanten. Portieren heeft –ie niet, de inzittenden stappen in via een ‘canopy’; een straaljagerachtige koepel. De Honda FC Sport laat zien hoe sportauto’s er uit zien in een wereld waarin geen olie meer wordt gebruikt,” vertelt de directeur van Honda in Amerika. “Mensen die van sportauto’s houden, zullen overstappen op waterstoftechniek.” Om zijn schone karakter te benadrukken is deze Honda in het wit uitgevoerd. Verder is de auto zo licht mogelijk gehouden. Honda vertelt dat in het interieur veel gebruik is gemaakt van biologische en organische materialen om de ‘carbon footprint’ zo klein mogelijk te houden. |
