 De nieuwe Honda Insight heeft vooral naam gemaakt als ‘de betaalbare hybride’. Dat wil echter niet zeggen dat Honda de nieuwe technologie voor andere modellen bewaart. Zo debuteert het Ecological Drive Assist System op de Insight. Het Ecological Drive Assist System bestaat uit drie onderdelen. Allereerst is er de Econ Mode, die de transmissie, CVT-automaat en motor controleert voor een lager verbruik. Bovendien zorgt de Econ Mode ervoor dat de airconditioning efficiënter werkt en er meer energie in de accu’s wordt opgeslagen bij het afremmen. Daarnaast is er de ‘Guidance Function’, die een ‘Ambient Meter’ rond de snelheidsmeter laat verkleuren. Als de bestuurder volgens de Insight zuinig rijdt, heeft de Ambient Meter een groene kleur. Bij een beschaafde acceleratie krijgt de meter een blauwgroene kleur en als de bestuurder het onderste uit de kan wil, wordt hij ‘gestraft’ met een blauwe kleur. De Ambient Meter reageert niet alleen op het gebruik van het gaspedaal, ook neemt de Guidance Function het remgedrag onder de loep. Honda noemt Tenslotte is er de ‘Scoring Function’, die de bestuurder naderhand tips geeft hoe hij zuiniger kan rijden. De score van de afgeronde rit wordt aangegeven met een aantal blaadjes: hoe meer, hoe beter. Ook kan de Insight de score van de afgelopen drie ritten vergelijken. De Insight krijgt de beschikking over een hybride aandrijflijn met een 1,3-liter benzinemotor. Dankzij Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) behaalt de Insight ongeveer dezelfde verbruikscijfers als de Civic Hybrid. De Insight komt in de eerste helft van 2009 bij ons op de markt. Honda wil 200.000 exemplaren per jaar verkopen, de helft daarvan in de Verenigde Staten. |
