 Honda ziet zich genoodzaakt de productie flink terug te schroeven. Wereldwijd gaan fabrieken minder productie draaien. Zo sluit de productiefaciliteit in het Engelse Swindon gedurende vijftig dagen in februari en maart z’n poorten. De hoofdreden hiervoor vormen de tegenvallende verkoopcijfers van de Civic, die het leeuwendeel van de productie in Swindon voor z’n rekening neemt. Verder rolt ook de CR-V uit de Engelse fabriek. Door de tijdelijke sluiting daalt de geplande productie met 21.000 exemplaren. In combinatie met eerder geplande maatregelen komt de totale jaarproductie in Engeland uit op 175.000 Honda’s, terwijl 225.000 de bedoeling was. Ook de Japanse Saitima fabriek gaat minder uren draaien. In totaal bouwt Honda in de fabriek in de buurt van Tokyo 40.000 auto’s minder dan oorspronkelijk de bedoeling was, vooral door de tegenvallende verkopen van de Accord in Europa en Noord-Amerika. Ook de fabrieken in Ohio en Alabama gaan waarschijnlijk de productie terugschroeven. |
