De door Lucas Oil gesponsorde 1999 Honda Civic Si reed dit record op de zoutvlakten van Bonneville in augustus van dit jaar. De 728 pk sterke Civic haalde een topsnelheid van 366,4 km/u (227.7 mph). Als de standaard Honda aandrijfassen het hadden gehouden, dan was het record nog hoger uitgekomen. De 728 pk werden gehaald bij 2 bar turbodruk.
