 Bosch heeft becijferd dat in 2008 de toepassing van het veiligheidsverhogende ESP opnieuw is gegroeid. In de eerste helft van 2008 werden 53% van de nieuwe auto’s met een elektronisch stabiliteitssysteem uitgerust. Jammer is wel dat het A- en B-segment achterblijft. Er is een adviserende taak weggelegd voor het autobedrijf. Overigens is Nederland bepaald geen koploper in de aanschaf van auto’s met ESP. Het cijfer van 53% heeft betrekking op Europa, in Nederland werden in diezelfde periode 43% van de nieuwe auto’s van een stabiliteitsregeling voorzien. In Zweden was dat 97%! Nog altijd zijn het vooral de grotere, luxere auto’s waar ESP standaard is of als optie wordt gekozen. In het A- en B-segment (kleine auto’s) hebben slechts 15% en 16% van de nieuw geregistreerde auto’s standaard ESP en een schamele 2% en 4% is er optioneel van voorzien. Volgens Bosch moeten de voordelen van ESP meer benadrukt worden. Dat is vooral een taak van het autobedrijf. De Europese Commissie wil ESP in 2012 gaan verplichten. De nieuwe EuroNCAP-regels zullen de populariteit van ESP ongetwijfeld doen stijgen, omdat vanaf volgend jaar alleen auto’s met ESP nog in aanmerking komen voor de maximaal te behalen 5 sterren. |
