 De Honda NSX is inmiddels naar de eeuwige jachtvelden gestuurd. Ook andere leuke nieuwe modellen van Honda en het luxe zustermerk Acura, worden door de crisis naar de prullenbak verwezen.  De Honda-modellen die we ook in Nederland moeten gaan missen zijn deze cabrioletversie van de komende CR-Z en de opvolger van de S2000. Die gaan er niet komen, aldus de Engelse autopers. De huidige S2000 is zijn laatste jaar ingegaan. Ook de opvolger van de Legend staat op losse schroeven. Verder wordt van de volgende Honda Accord geen Europese en Amerikaanse versie meer ontwikkeld. We moeten het allemaal doen met het zelfde model. Dat scheelt enkele miljarden ontwikkelingskosten. Of Honda’s luxemerk Acura in 2010 naar Europa komt, is nu ook nog maar helemaal de vraag. Het vlaggenschip NSX, die deze merknaam zou gaan dragen, is enige tijd geleden officieel afgeschoten. De ontwikkeling van een nieuwe V8 voor dat merk, is eveneens stilgezet. Verder stond er bij Acura een serie achterwielaandrijvers op de planning die het moest gaan opnemen tegen de BMW 3-, 5- en 7-serie. Daarmee wilde Acura onder meer goede sier gaan maken in Europa. Maar ook die modellen hebben het niet gered. Een 7-serie concurrent zou eerste zijn uit die serie en stond voor 2015 op de planning. Honda wil zich helemaal gaan concentreren op hybride auto’s. In 2012 moeten 500.000 auto’s van die soort worden gebouwd. Dit jaar is er de Insight en volgend jaar komt er een hybride Jazz op de markt die 90 gram CO2 per kilometer uitstoot. Daar moeten we het voorlopig maar even mee doen. |
