 In Maleisië hebben de teams en coureurs vandaag geprobeerd zichzelf op de best mogelijke startpositie te kwalificeren. Naast het grote nieuws circuleren er ook vandaag weer kleine berichten in de paddock. Gisteren introduceerde Racefreaks.nl dit 'Paddock-nieuws' en mocht daarvoor warme reacties in ontvangst nemen van haar bezoekers. Daarom zal Racefreaks deze rubriek tijdens grand prix-races voortaan in stand houden. Hier vindt u zodoende opnieuw enkele korte nieuwtjes vanuit de Sepang-paddock, zodat u weer helemaal up-to-date bent! • Nadat de FIA gisteren al boetes had opgelegd aan coureurs, mogen na vandaag ook Timo Glock en Nick Heidfeld in de buidel tasten. Glock moet in totaal 4.000 euro overmaken. Hij reed 79,1 kilometer per uur op de meetstreep waar 60 kilometer per uur de maximumsnelheid is. Heidfeld reed op die lijn 3,7 kilometer per uur te hard en heeft een boete van 800 euro ontvangen. • Het team van Ferrari heeft een flinke interne reorganisatie achter de kiezen. De Scuderia heeft de plannen om het Formule 1-team in te krimpen doorgezet. Teambaas Stefano Domenicali liet tegenover het Oostenrijkse dagblad Salzburger Nachrichten weten: "Ongeveer honderd medewerkers hebben een andere baan gekregen binnen Ferrari. Ons aantal medewerkers in de Formule 1 komt nu uit op 700." • McLaren rijdt morgen met asymmetrische sidepods. Het team heeft in de behuizing van de linkerkant de electronica voor het KERS-systeem verwerkt. Dat betekent dat de achterkant van de MP-24 in vergelijking met Australië aan de achterkant bolvormiger en breder zal zijn. Tevens heeft het team de opening van de uitlaat groter gemaakt, zodat de hitte makkelijker afgevoerd kan worden. • De race van morgen is een speciale race voor RTL-commentator Olav Mol. Voor de 300e keer zal Mol een grand prix van commentaar voorzien. De eerste grand prix waarbij Mol achter de microfoon zat werd in 1991 gehouden in Monaco. Voor de statistici onder ons: De race werd gewonnen door Ayrton Senna. • Televisiekijkend Nederland opgelet! De Grand Prix van Maleisië zal niet worden uitgezonden op het kanaal van RTL7. Eenmalig wordt de race uitgezonden op RTL5. Mochten er dus mensen zijn die hun video willen instellen, let op de kanaalkeuze! Om 10:00 uur Nederlandse tijd begint de voorbeschouwing en om 11:00 uur zullen de lichten in Maleisië gedoofd worden. • De kwalificatie was amper achter de rug, toen er in Maleisië opnieuw een hevige onweersbui over het circuit trok. Rond de klok van zeven uur plaatstelijke tijd kwam de regen in grote hoeveelheid naar beneden. Jenson Button zal in ieder geval geen regendans hebben gedaan. Ondanks dat hij op pole staat, zouden regendruppels wel eens funest voor hem kunnen zijn. De Brit heeft met Brawn GP nog geen enkele meter in vochtige omstandigheden gereden, iets wat de andere teams in aanloop naar dit seizoen al wel hebben gedaan. |
