 Honda heeft voor de eigen markt de dieselmotor min of meer afgezworen, maar toch heeft het merk in het Japanse Ogawa een nieuwe fabriek voor dieselmotoren geopend. De fabriek gaat cilinderblokken en gietdelen voor de Europese dieselmotoren leveren. De fabriek opereert –geheel in de stijl van het moderne Honda- buitengewoon milieuvriendelijk. De CO2-uitstoot tijdens het gieten van de blokken is 40 procent lager dan bij andere fabrieken en tijdens de rest van het productieproces is dit 25 procent. De dieseltechniek uit de Ogawa-fabriek vindt z’n weg naar de Europese Accord, de Civic en de CR-V. De officiële opening van de productiefaciliteit vond plaats op 10 april. In de herfst van dit jaar start de productie van de onderdelen, omdat eerst de machines nog getest en geïnstalleerd moeten worden. |
